Our friends at the HazyOwl pub reached out to us for the new website design and development services.

HazyOwl pub sought a partner who could design and develop a clean and simple website for their establishment and elevate their online presence. For their website, they wanted a clean, artistic representation of their basic information – their story, their cocktail list, and their events.

Brief

The HazyOwl pub is a small local establishment, and their team did not have much online presence. Their entire business lives on a word-of-mouth model and they decided that it was time to create an aesthetically pleasing website.

They requested a website design that will represent their story, have information about the regular events that they are organizing, and guide visitors through their drinks menu.

The owners of The HazyOwl pub showed intent on engaging more in digital marketing and expanding their website, so an important requirement for the website was that it has to be easily extendable in the future.

Solution

As the project was fairly simple, the analysis and planning phases were done in 3-4 meetings. We learned from the HazyOwl team more about their establishment, their story, and how they want to be represented online. In collaboration with them, we devised a timeline for the project development, as initially, the website has a fairly simple sitemap with only Home and Drinks catalog pages and as content develops we will add more and more features and pages to the website (events, gallery, etc).

Upon finishing the analysis and planning phase our design team sketched out a couple of ideas and soon enough we could jump from wireframing into the design.

From the technical side, in order to develop a beautiful, performant, responsive website that can be optimized for search engines, and that is easy to use, we developed it by using Django/Wagtail CMS combo for the back-end (API) and Next.js for the front-end. The client ends up having very secure, yet simple-to-use content management and deployment tools.

Homepage Landing Section

We designed the landing section of the homepage that conveys the nature and the style of the drinking and entertainment establishment that the HazyOwl team required.

Rest of The Homepage

The rest of the Homepage showcases the establishment’s Drinks, Events, and HazyOwl story. In the next phase, each of these sections will have an individual page where additional relevant content will be added.

Responsive Design

It was very important for our clients that the website design and performance translate across all devices. As Pub-goers usually check the establishments over their phones, we knew mobile-first design was an absolute must for the HazyOwl project.

With that knowledge, our design team created the responsive design for most of the popular mobile, tablet, and desktop device resolutions. The design choices, functionality, and overall aesthetics are clear and work as designed for all devices.

HazyOwl & Ginger Results

How the business is improved

The HazyOwl team made a step forward with their digital marketing efforts. They now have a beautiful website that their customers can use to get all the relevant information.

HazyOwl is now enabled to create further content and work with Ginger on expanding their digital footprint further, by adding new pages to their website and executing a digital marketing strategy that will increase HazyOwl brand strength and visibility.
