London Lauriston Clinic Case Study

As we have established experience working with healthcare companies, the startup management of London Lauriston Clinic (LLC) approached us with very specific but fairly standard requirements from the UK healthcare industry. The highly experienced team behind LLC, which had sold an outpatient clinic in the renowned Harley Street medical district in the previous year, planned to open a new one closer to Oxford Circus in central London. For their new clinic, they were searching for a reliable and experienced partner who would execute the web design and web development to the highest standards, and follow very tight regulations set by UK governing bodies.

LLC & Ginger IT Journey

With LLC, we started from scratch. As with all our projects, we thoroughly discussed the requirements, priorities, and scope of work. We got to know stakeholders and decision-makers in LLC, and they got to know our team members and our processes. We clicked very soon, and the LLC team realized they were in safe hands. To kick off our work, we were tasked with web design for their new clinic’s website, and after that with WordPress website development.

Our UX/UI designers went through the requirements set by the LLC team and reviewed their preferences and suggestions. After the initial research phase, we had scoped the limitations and the requirements that we had to satisfy. The nature of the healthcare web design comes with strict requirements for accessibility, navigation, and transparent and accurate information representation.

We quickly came up with high-fidelity wireframes for the homepage, and from there an initial homepage design was created. We aimed for WAI-AAA level of accessibility, which is the gold standard of web accessibility, often called “Excellent accessibility”. After initial tweaks from the client feedback, we were in agreement on the general style of the website, and we proceeded to create the designs for the remaining pages. One by one, we hit the nail on the head, and the LLC team had very little to change/add.

In designing the website, we took careful notes to ensure easy navigation and accessibility for visually impaired users and to provide everyone using LLC’s new website with an easy-to-understand and accurate information structure. In addition, we made sure that the design was genuinely responsive – accessible and intuitive across all devices and viewports.

Our designers handled every detail, from contrasts to spacing to clearly organized content. The result was an across-the-board accepted design, which our clients loved because we dedicated ourselves to designing something with their patients’ well-being in mind.

London Lauriston Clinic – Healthcare WordPress Web Development

After our design was so well received, we knew we absolutely had to continue in the same manner. We created a WordPress theme from scratch for LLC and implemented the best practices following WCAG standards. Everything from the design was translated into the website, and our custom-built theme gave us the flexibility to create an extremely easy-to-use experience for our clients.

Our web development team implemented the WAI-ARIA standard to ensure the website’s accessibility. As we understand the online healthcare services domain, we ensured GDPR compliance on the website and a high level of data security for the site’s users.

With all the accessibility and security features in place, we did not forget to build a performant website. We optimized the website for fast loading times and prepared the back end for our regular maintenance service that will ensure the website works in the future, as it did on the first day we deployed it to production.
